What Makes Us a Top Rated Children's Dentist
Why Families Drive from Across Northeast Ohio to See Dr. Rachel Rosen and Team
Dr. Rachel Rosen built Great Beginnings Pediatric Dentistry around a simple belief: children deserve a dentist who looks at the whole picture, not just their teeth. From comprehensive cleanings and exams to advanced airway and tongue tie care, the GBPD team takes a whole-child approach to children’s dentistry.
Families drive from across Northeast Ohio because they are looking for dental care that goes beyond treating cavities and focuses on a more holistic, preventative dentistry approach. As a board-certified pediatric dentist and Ohio’s only Breathe Ops Affiliate of The Breathe Institute, Dr. Rachel understands how your child’s breathing, tongue posture, and oral development connect to how they sleep, eat, grow, and feel every day. Whether your child needs a first dental visit or a second opinion, Dr. Rachel and team are here to help you connect the dots, so your child can thrive.
Children's Dentist and Ohio's Only Breathe Ops Affiliate
Dr. Rachel Rosen is a board-certified pediatric dentist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She also holds a distinction no other pediatric dentist in the state shares: she is Ohio’s only Breathe Ops Affiliate, surgically trained by Dr. Soroush Zaghi at The Breathe Institute.
What do these distinctions mean for your child? It means our team uses the latest evidence-based care to connect the dots between your child’s airway, oral health, and overall wellbeing. Restless sleep, bedwetting that lingers, a possible tongue or lip tie, cavity risk, misaligned teeth, and jaw development are more connected to how a child breathes than many people realize. Dr. Rachel and team are trained to look beyond isolated symptoms to where they intersect.
When a tongue tie or lip tie release is indicated, GBPD offers both laser tongue tie release for infants, a gentle procedure requiring no sutures, and functional frenuloplasty for older children and teens who need a more comprehensive tissue release. Two different procedures for different stages of child development, both performed by Ohio’s only Breathe Ops Affiliate.

Airway-Informed Dental Exams

Root Cause Cavity Prevention for Kids
A cavity is a symptom, not the problem. At Great Beginnings, we treat it like the whole-body signal it is.
Dr. Rachel and team look at how your child breathes, how well they sleep, how their tongue rests, and what they eat. Mouth breathing dries protective saliva. Tongue posture and function affect jaw and airway development. Dietary patterns create the environment where decay either thrives or struggles. We address these root causes alongside providing sealants, dental cleanings, and preventive varnish to help children at Great Beginnings move toward fewer cavities and more restorative sleep.
Mouth Breathing and Cavities
Mouth breathing is a leading cause of cavities in children because it dries the saliva that protects teeth, making decay more likely even with good brushing habits
Fluoride and Hydroxyapatite
Our combination varnish uses both fluoride and hydroxyapatite for maximum cavity protection at every visit for families who choose this preventative dentistry option
Dietary Guidance
We talk honestly about the foods and drinks that put teeth at risk and give families practical strategies that actually work
Sealants and Preventive Care
Preventative dentistry options include dental sealants to create a physical barrier against decay in the grooves where cavities most commonly start
Drill-Free, Minimally Invasive Dentistry for Kids
When it comes to cavity treatment at Great Beginnings Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Rachel and team reach for the least invasive option first, every time. Minimally invasive dentistry uses evidence-based techniques that skip the traditional dental drill and numbing shot. They also preserve more healthy tooth structure and reduce discomfort, helping children avoid the most fearful parts of dental visits. Fewer scary moments means more confident kids and fewer battles getting them through the door.
Solea Laser Dentistry
Treats cavities in many cases with no drill and no needles, with pinpoint accuracy and fewer appointments
Silver Diamine Fluoride
Applied in minutes with no drilling, SDF stops cavity progression in primary teeth in locations that are less visible when your child smiles
Hall Crowns
A stainless steel crown placed over a decayed primary tooth with no drilling and no numbing shot, sealing decay and restoring function
SMART Fillings
SDF stops the decay, then a glass ionomer cement seals it in and releases fluoride over time to protect the tooth without drilling first
Gentler Children's Dentistry Through Smarter Technology
Every technology choice at Great Beginnings comes back to one question: does this make the experience better for the child? Better means less discomfort, less fear, more precision, and faster healing. Every tool in this office earned its place by meeting that standard.
SOAN Smart Needle
Delivers anesthesia with more precision and far less of the discomfort, lingering numbness, and fear that come with a traditional syringe
Solea Laser
The only CO2 laser cleared for both hard and soft tissue, in use at GBPD since 2015, enabling drill-free and often needle-free treatment
Summus Medical Laser
Red light therapy applied before and after certain procedures to support tissue comfort and healing
Digital Radiography
Captures sharper images while delivering over 80% less radiation than traditional x-rays
A Dental Home for Every Child
Every child deserves a dental home where they feel safe, seen, and celebrated. At Great Beginnings, that is not a tagline. It is how Dr. Rachel and team approach every single appointment, for every single child.
Special Needs Dentistry
Advanced training to support children with autism, sensory processing differences, anxiety, developmental delays, & special health care needs
Behavior Guidance
Child-centered techniques that build trust and reduce anxiety, paced to meet your child exactly where they are

Team Approach to Your Child's Care
For many of the children who come to Great Beginnings, traditional children’s dentistry is one piece of a much larger picture. Dr. Rachel built her practice around that reality.
When a child needs more than what one provider can offer, Dr. Rachel coordinates directly with a trusted network of airway-informed specialists across Northeast Ohio. Families leave with a clear, individualized plan and a dentist who stays connected to the full picture of their child’s care.
Coordinated Specialist Care
Dr. Rachel and team coordinate directly with each specialist, so your child gets connected care rather than a stack of separate referrals
Individualized Care Plans
Every plan is built around your child's unique needs, timeline, and family situation, not a one-size-fits-all protocol. The right specialists at care at the optimal time.

We are very thankful to have found Great Beginnings in Twinsburg. We have finally found great dentists who take both mental and dental health into account. Great Beginnings ACTUALLY practices the tell, show, do process with their patients. It is worth the 30-minute drive from where we live! Not only did my son get a tour before hours to see the office and meet the staff, but he had a consultation before his procedure where every step of his procedure was talked about in detail and we asked questions. During the procedure, he was informed every step of the way and they made sure he was okay with everything first. Dr. Rosen is his dentist, but yesterday he has a cleaning and saw Dr. Alderman, and she gave us good advice and referrals for his teeth grinding. They really know their stuff. GB has earned my family’s trust. 3 years later....We are STILL very happy with Great Beginnings. Dr. Rosen is amazing. My son had a couple baby teeth pulled yesterday and she listened to him and coached him through it every step of the way. They are compassionate there and will NEVER rush a kid through an already stressful dental procedure. They even worked us in later when our son had some referred pain, he had an X-ray and we left with peace of mind! Thanks, GB!Posted on Google

We had such a wonderful experience with the entire dental team. From start to finish, everyone was incredibly patient, kind, and compassionate with my daughter. They took the time to clearly explain everything to us, made sure we understood what to expect, and never made us feel rushed. As a parent, it means so much to see your child treated with genuine care and understanding, especially during a procedure that can be stressful for both a child and their parent. Their patience and kindness helped make the entire experience so much easier and gave me so much peace of mind. I’m incredibly grateful for the care my daughter received and would absolutely recommend this office to any parent looking for a dental team that is professional, compassionate, and truly cares about their patients. ❤️Posted on Google
