Great Beginnings Pediatric Dentistry Picture Gallery

Kids can find trips to a dental office overwhelming.  To help kids overcome their fear of the dentist, the Great Beginnings Pediatric Team recommends you review with your child what to expect.  A picture storyboard is a great way to do that, so we’re providing one here for you!

Children with special healthcare needs especially benefit from getting to review what to expect at their dental visit.  We hope this picture gallery helps you child look forward to their next visit!

(Please note that some pictures were taken before the COVID-19 pandemic and were taken for showing purposes only, not during an actual visit.)

Creating your own dental visit storyboard.

Feel free to download and print our pictures to add with your own for a unique storyboard. To explain, parents often use a mixture of their own pictures with the ones we’ve provided here to create a visual story of a sequence of events to expect. For example, one parent’s storyboard includes pictures of the family car and a favorite toy the child can bring. Likewise, another parent’s storyboard included pictures of the ice cream shop they plan to visit after the dental appointment.

Reviewing before and after dental visits.

Even if a child has been to our office before, a review can be helpful in reducing any anxiety they may be feeling about their next visit.  Likewise, after a visit, some children enjoy telling their parents their memories from each part of the office.  Such review gives children a chance to talk about dental visits and ask questions.
